Aerial Videography
I first started flying drones at the end of 2015, passing my UK CAA accredited competency in 2016. In the intervening time I have flown in multiple sites across Scotland, Norway (including Svalbard) and Iceland. I own a DJI Mini 3 Pro. When working through my partner Production Company, Portal Norge, I have access to a Mavic 3 Cine and an iFlight bob57 FPV drone capable of carrying a GoPro for long range cinematic FPV footage.

St Andrews From Above - 2017
St Andrews from Above was commissioned by the University of St Andrews Press Office and uses imagery captured whilst John worked for Smart History. Every shot was directed by John, either as camera operator or pilot. All editing and colour grading was also undertaken by John.
Smart History Aerial Showreel - 2017
Smart History's aerial showcase is entirely made up of shots that were directed by John. Some were captured with John as pilot, others as camera operator. The initial edit was completed by CJ Davies with the final edit completed by John.
